Overview and general statement
As a Catholic school community we will:
place Religious Education at the core of our school curriculum in order to develop the children’s spirituality and understanding of the Gospel values.
At St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School we teach the National Curriculum comprising the core subjects of - English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education and Computing along with the foundation subjects - History, Geography, Design and Technology, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Foreign Languages and Personal, Social and Health Education.
The curriculum will be developed:
‘in line with the principles of freedom, responsibility and fairness – to raise standards for all children and to narrow achievement gaps. The National Curriculum should embody rigour and high standards and create coherence in what is taught in schools, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to acquire a core of knowledge in the key subject disciplines.’

Children can also take part in a variety of extra-curricular opportunities. Our teaching methods support a wide variety of learning styles and we encourage our children to become independent, confident and reflective learners.
