Holidays During Term Time
Amendments to the 2006 regulations remove references to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days.
The amendments make clear that Head Teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.Regulations do not allow Head Teachers to grant leave for a pupil to be absent for the purpose of a family holiday.
The new law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during term time.
Please send in a completed Leave of absence request form the attention of Mrs Gerrard if you intend to go on holiday. You may then be requested to come in to discuss whether this might be an exceptional circumstance and therefore be granted.
