Today we looked in more detail about how Pentecost is celebrated, the gifts of the Holy Spirit and why it is ‘the birthday of the Church’. To celebrate we made and decorated in Pentecost colours pin wheels, we added on key vocabulary and some of the symbols and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Questions we discussed as a class. 

• In the reading, what were the Jewish people celebrating at Pentecost?
• What was the promise Jesus made?
• Why is Pentecost known as ‘the birthday of the Church’?
• Why does the priest wear red vestments at Pentecost?
• Why would parishes celebrate richness and diversity during Pentecost?
